Know Your Tires: All-Season vs. Summer

Sadly but truly, lots of drivers of the modern day still do not know the difference between all-season tyres and summer tyres. And what makes this particular matter way more complex and confusing, is the fact that new truck tyres come in a range of brands, models and sizes, which makes it difficult to make the right selection and ensure the most out of protection.

We all know that trucks are massive vehicles that feature extraordinary load capacity and powerful hauling performance. This makes trucks to be both useful for the businesses (by increasing productivity and revenue), but extremely hazardous for the driver at the same time. For this reason, ensuring the highest level of security when driving and operating with a giant truck, is the first thing to do.

When it comes to the security matter, truck tyres play an important role that should never be neglected neither by the truck driver, nor by the owner himself. It all starts with understanding the meaning and difference between the following categories of truck tyres:

All-Season Truck Tyres

They are specially designed for dry, warm and mild-wet conditions. Normally, they can provide safe truck-driving experience in Spring, Summer and Autumn season. Simply put, they are recommended for temperatures above 7°C. However, many heavy-duty truck drivers are led by the misconception that 'all-season' stands for truck tyres that will provide the most out of security and performance throughout the entire year. Yes, it is true that new truck tyres labeled as 'all-season' will offer а certain level of mobility in snow, thus making it easier for truck drivers to not be obliged to change the truck's tyres before and after the winter season. But, 'certain level of mobility' is not the same as "good grip in snow." Hence, final conclusion would be to act responsibly and go for a set of winter studded or non-studded tyres, once winter time is around the corner.

Summer Truck Tyres

Regular truck tyres, commonly referred to as summer tyres, offer fantastic damp-road traction, thanks to their soft and grip-tread compound. At subfreezing temperatures, the compound of summer tyres starts to harden. Hence, the reason why truck drivers should not rely on summer tyres' flexibility and safety at below-zero temperatures.

To make a great deal, check for new options at popular online tyre stores. Be guided by experience and reputation, as this is what will ensure you a perfect bargain. Best of luck!
